I always like a winter wedding. The British winter can make such a beautiful setting for wedding pictures – also it makes my job easier! I think if you plan for a winter wedding then any sun is a bonus, but if you plan for a sunny wedding and our British weather does it’s thing all over your special day – it can be a little disappointing to say the least. The big differences of the winter wedding is that you don’t have drinks reception on the lawn and the pictures will have a different feel to them – otherwise everything is much the same.
The winter wedding that this blog entry is about was that of the lovely Emily and Marc. Emily had booked me in the middle of last year, but since then I’d actually had another booking at Lazaat so I’d had a chance to familiarise myself with the venue. It’s a nice venue in the gorgeous setting of Cottingham and one I would definitely recommend – the food was very nice and the staff were eager to help. Amy, who was in charge of the running of the day was very helpful, on the ball and everything ran without a hitch.
Emily and Marc are a lovely couple – Emily looked great in a gorgeous choice of dress and Marc looked very nervous and a little teary eyed. You really got the feeling that this day meant a lot to him. I have to say also, the musical choices they made for the day were brilliant – their first dance was Al Green’s ‘Let’s Stay Together which was a great choice and one I’ve never heard before; and They signed the register to ‘Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I’m Yours’ by Stevie Wonder which was another cracking choice – you can’t beat a bit of Stevie!
They hired me for the full day so I sang as the guests arrived for the ceremony, for the drinks reception and while canapes were served waiting for the disco to start. I played an extra hour or so to fill the gaps in for them, but I’m more than happy to do that for my customers and these guys were a fun crowd so it was no chore. I genuinely enjoyed myself, having a laugh with them all and taking requests so the time just flew by if I’m honest. I’d happily do it all again for them if they ever renew their vows! 🙂
After the cutting of their very classy cake, Emily and Marc had their first dance and then it was straight into the disco to finish the evening. They were a very lively crowd, dancing and singing to the last song, except when the gorgeous curry buffet came out! I ate my own weight in naan it was so nice! I’m definitely having one of those for my wedding. I may pinch a few more of Emily and Marc’s choices for my wedding too!
